Heading to Fulham - Chelsea striker Broja completes Stamford Bridge exit
Fulham have won the race to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja on loan before the end of the January transfer window. After much consideration, Chelsea have opted to let the 22-year-old forward leave the club this month, and have now accepted an offer from their cross-city counterparts that would see Fulham pay an initial fee of €4.7 million for the player's services for the remainder of the season.

Broja had been heavily linked with a number of clubs over the course of the January window, but two in particular remained interested in the player as we went into deadline day: Fulham and Wolves. Although both top-flight clubs reportedly baulked at Chelsea’s asking price of €58 million for the young goalscorer, they apparently remain determined to sign Broja before the window slammed shut. According to the aforementioned publication, Chelsea have already rejected an approach from Wolves for the Albanian international, and it was Fulham who ultimately won the race for the player's signature.
Why did Fulham want to sign Broja?
At first glance, many football fans may be a little puzzled as to why two Premier League clubs are chasing a striker that has scored just three senior goals for Chelsea to date. But when we look beyond the player’s limited game time for Chelsea’s first team, we find a young talent who has thrived at youth level and could become a leading goalscorer in the Premier League if offered enough game time at the right club.
The Biggest Ever January Deadline Day Premier League Signings
For example, while Broja hasn’t had much time to prove his worth for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, he did thrive in Chelsea’s youth teams. In fact, over the course of 35 games for the U18 side at Stamford Bridge, the Albanian star bagged no less than 16 goals and five assists. When we couple that with loan spells in the Netherlands with Vitesse (11 goals and three assists in 34 games) and a season at Southampton (nine goals and one assists in 38 games) then it certainly suggests there’s much more to come from Broja. And there’s little doubt that Fulham are desperate to provide the player with the ideal stage to showcase that.
