Jérôme Boateng will leave Bayern Munich - "Mutual decision by the board"
Bayern Munich have confirmed a report by the German magazine kicker that Jérôme Boateng will leave the club at the end of the season. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed the report in an interview with Sky ahead of the Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
"It was a mutual decision by the board," Salihamidzic said. "I have explained it to Jérôme, and he has accepted it." The former national team player will, therefore, leave the club when his contract expires after ten successful years at Bayern. Bayern signed the defender from Manchester City in 2011.
There is significant interest in the 32-year-old. In Europe, Chelsea and Juventus have been linked with the defender. Another option could be Major League Soccer. "Experience another culture," Boateng said to kicker when asked about his future last year. "I like to learn new things and don’t always have to be in the same place. USA, Asia, or even another European country, you will see."
